Jeff Gonzales is an associate for Reax Engineering Inc. in Berkeley, CA. His professional experience includes hazard and risk analysis for nuclear facilities, nuclear safety basis development, design and inspection of smoke control systems, fire modeling, and hazardous material consulting. He has performed engineering consulting for a variety of Department of Energy sites, including the Nevada National Security Site and Los Alamos National Laboratory. As a nuclear safety analyst at Area G in Los Alamos, he was on the team that developed the second Documented Safety Analysis and Technical Safety Requirements under DOE-STD-3009-2014. He received his Master’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he successfully developed a novel automation algorithm for optimizing smoke control systems.
