Reax completed 3rd party peer review of numerous components of the recently completed Transbay Transit Center. Scope included smoke management, wind modeling, structural fire protection, and occupant egress. Reax Engineering is a designated 3rd party peer reviewer for the County of San Francisco and regularly completes engineering judgements supporting alternate means and methods of compliance with building codes. We have managed dozens of projects spanning the range from rapid assessments of equivalence with listed systems to multi-million-dollar development programs of novel approaches. Our work is often supported by modeling and experiments with clear development of the basis for the equivalency so that building officials can confidently accept alternates as meeting or exceeding the fire safety intent of the building code.
